    Client: Don & Gloria Lamberton,
    Knouff Lake Resort

    After trying for four years to sell their resort, without a single offer,
    Don and Gloria decided to call Mastermind Studios.

2. THE PROBLEM

In 2014 Don & Gloria Lamberton, the owners of BC’s oldest family fishing resort, hired Mastermind Studios to produce a tourism marketing video for Knouff Lake Resort. Don & Gloria wanted a piece they could use online that would do justice to the unique, peaceful and serene experience at Knouff Lake. The success of that video lead the Lambertons to once again reach out to Mastermind Studios in the spring of 2017. Now in their seventies Don and Gloria had reached a point where they wanted to slow down and not work so hard. It was time to sell the resort but they had been trying to do just that for four years, through four different real estate agents, without a single offer. They decided to ask Mastermind Studios if we could step-in and sell the resort for them.

4. THE SOLUTION

With Don & Gloria’s blessing Mastermind Studios brought in our own Real Estate Agent in to assist with some of the basics including the due diligence around valuating the business, getting the property appraised, and listing the resort on MLS. While this was underway we began to gather research material and interview key stakeholders from the resort and tourism industry. After about 45 days we produced and launched the documentary – Last Resort. A 17 minute short film launched almost exclusively to targeted audiences on Facebook.

And now, although the property has not yet been sold, there have been multiple offers from qualified buyers who are interested in the property and a sale is anticipated to close before the end of 2017.
