The next course dates for this 2 day program are June 8th and June 9th, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days. The cost of this two-day course is $250 plus GST and once taken you can complete the online exam to receive your certification (with the costs for the online exam included in your enrollment).
The Motion Picture Industry Orientation Course is required by all BC Film Unions and is taught from a motion picture production perspective, to inform students about the state of BC’s motion picture industry, jobs and skills required in the industry, the nature of the film industry, on-set operations, terminology and protocol, lifestyle, on-set and personal safety, safe working conditions & best practices in set sustainability, in order for students to make informed decisions before and after entering the motion picture industry.
MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE
Developed in partnership between Creative BC, MPPIA, and industry labour organizations, the Motion Picture Industry Orientation course is a comprehensive, mandatory course that provides you with the information you need to know before working on a film set.
The motion picture industry has high expectations of crew members, their knowledge and expertise, in order to “get the shot and make the day.” Course topics may include current filming information, growth and trends in the industry, its collaborative nature, demands and challenges facing production crew, job descriptions, on-set language, location respect, reading and understanding a call sheet, and on-set safety considerations and protocols for stunts and special effects.
This is a TWO DAY Training course – you must attend for both days and pass a test at the end to receive your certification.
The course runs from 9am to 5:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Your certificate will be issued in your name and will be available in your ActSafe Portal Account upon successful completion of the course exam, the cost of which is included in your $250 plus GST ( $262.50 ) enrollment fee.
- When registering, please ONLY register ONE person per ticket. If you need to register multiple people, each must purchase a ticket in order for us to process the certificate. Ensure that you register under the name of the person who will be attending the course, along with a CURRENT AND COMPLETE email address; failure to do so may lead to a significant delay in receiving your portal login credentials and certificate.
- You do not need to bring anything aside from a pen and food and drinks, however, you may like to bring a notebook or laptop to take notes. You will be provided a training manual.
- One (1) hour will be provided for a lunch break on each day. Please provide your own meal and snacks. Coffee, tea and water provided. Microwave is available in classroom.
